Dear guests of Transport and Telecommunications Institute,

We are glad to present to you existing academic and scientific laboratories of Transport and Telecommunications Institute. We put a lot of attention on development of laboratory infrastructure in order to provide opportunities for students and staff to carry out scientific and practical work with modern software and hardware technologies.

In 2013, the infrastructure development project called IKAR (Information and communication technologies as a single academic resource in the Transport and Telecommunications Institute) was successfully completed. It took us 3 years and more than 1 479 586 LVL to update existing infrastructure and implement new research and academic units. Within the framework of the IKAR project, Telecommunications, electronics and robotics center was established, which includes 9 new laboratories. Cisco Networking Academy got new networking equipment, which allows being in step with modern networking technologies and preparing qualified specialists. Laboratory of Applied Software Systems got new software, which will be used for academic and research purposes. More than 290 licenses were purchased from different vendors like MathWorks, AutoDesk, IBM, StatSoft and many others. The APAC (Academic and Professional Aviation Center) was equipped with Airbus 320 maintenance simulator and corresponding software and hardware. This allows making education of a future specialist closer to the real life situations and real life aircraft maintenance procedures.

All the mentioned above allows us to say that our academic and research infrastructure is one of the most modern and innovative in Latvia. But we see number of challenges in the future that is why we will keep our entire infrastructure updated to provide a possibility for students and staff to be in front of science and academic knowledge.
