The event, which was attended by such prominent guests, was undoubtedly pleasant and became an impulse for further cooperation and development!
On September 6, 1999 by strong desire of the academic staff and on the basis of Riga Aviation University, Transport and Telecommunication Institute was founded. The Institute – successor of the legendary Riga Civil Aviation Engineers Institute, continuing the traditions with dignity, successfully combines values of classical education and innovative technologies, science and creativity.
Today, TSI is the only private higher education establishment of university type in Latvia, where one can get higher education in Russian, Latvian and English.
In our dynamic time, 15 years is not long, but the results achieved by the Institute, truly impress. And it is not only the success in the field of education: during those years the Institute has trained more than one generation of talented graduates – logisticians, managers, economists, computer programmers, electronic engineers and aviation specialists.
The result of the fruitful work and successful development is inclusion of the TSI as the only private Institute in the list of leading scientific institutes in Latvia. According to the rating of „Latvijas Avīze” in 2014, Transport and Telecommunication Institute has reached excellent performance taking 2nd place amongst private universities in our country!
The pride of the Institute – Centre for Telecommunications, Electronics and Robotics, established with the financial support of ERAF in the framework of IKAR project. There are 9 laboratories equipped with modern software and hardware in the centre, which are widely used in academic and research activities and allow to lead the classes with students at the highest technical level.
The possibilities of using the potential of the laboratories are wide – from teaching students to performing different levels of specialized tasks related to production and business, making the Institute an important link in the chain „education – practice – business”.
Now there are more than 2500 students in the Institute and it is not the limit. Budget places, loyalty programs, scholarships – it is only a small part of what the Institute can offer to its future students.
TSI today – it is high quality and worthy education in such fields as transport and logistics, computer sciences, electronics and telecommunications, economics and management, aviation transport. Those are also new specializations: robotics, piloting of air transport, aviation management, information security, international finances and many more!
We work and improve ourselves and, as one of the guests of the jubilee noted: „...the Institute has something to strive for and within the next 15 years there should be astronauts graduating the TSI!...”
