Information and safety – main aspects of services, affecting on public transport attractiveness: theory and practice
Within the framework of the Week of Transport 2014 was held scientific practical seminar "Information and safety – main aspects of services, affecting on public transport attractiveness: theory and practice", the host and chief organizer of which was Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI). The event has acquired a status of international conference and has officially entered the programme of the Week of Transport 2014.
The seminar was attended by representatives of private and public sector, practitioners and theorists.
So, for example, great interest was stirred up by the speeches of professors of the Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI) Irina Yatskiv and Igor Kabashkin. In their works, they offered their point of view on use of information technologies as a factor in increasing the attractiveness of the public transportation within the framework of POLITE project, and an assessment of objective and subjective indicators of the quality of the public transportation services.
The director of the “Association of Passenger Carriers of Latvia” (LPPA), Ivo Oshenieks told about the system of public transportation services in Latvia, its advantages, and about the safety of busses.
Chairman of Security, Corruption Prevention and Public Order Issues Committee, Dainis Turlais, spoke about the role of the municipality in organization of public transportation.
Chairman of the Board of the LLC “Complete Payment Systems” Uldis Paberzis offered an interesting theme describing the possibilities of using banking infrastructures for administration of transport benefits.
Linda Baltina, member of the board of LLC “LDz apsardze”, spoke about the functions and importance of security for ensuring the passenger safety.
The moderators of the seminar were: Acting Rector of the Transport and Telecommunication Institute, Igors Graurs and the President of the “Association of Passenger Carriers of Latvia”, Peteris Salkazanovs.
In informal debates participated: Kristine Malnacha, representative of Vidzeme planning region, Arturs Liegis, chairman of the board of LLC “Ventspils reiss”, Olga Lebedeva, representative of LLC “Rīgas Satiksme”, Evalds Mekshs, member of the board JSC “Daugavpils satiksme”, Ieva Zicmane, representative of JSC “Nordeka”, Vladimirs Elsters, representative of LLC “Rīgas karte”, Sergey Mihailov, member of the board of LLC “Daugavpils autobusu parks”, Janis Shcherbickis, chairman of the board of LLC “Jēkabpils autobusu parks”, Aija Ciganovicha, member of the board of LLC “Aizkraukles ATU”, Aldis Rutkis, chairman of the board of LLC “Dobeles autobusu parks”, Oleg Zhizhin, member of the board of LLC “Transporta Telemātikas sistēmas”, Valeriy Kasyanov, member of the board of LLC “BMS Tehnoloģija” and other competent professionals and representatives of the transport sector.
The seminar was supported by the European Regional Development Fund, Latvian Transport Development and Education Association, Road Transport Administration, Association of Passenger Carriers and Riga International Bus Station.
The hot discussions that erupted at the seminar attracted the attention not only of the experts in the field of transport, but also the journalists.
