Business and Research: Together Towards Innovations with ICT new trends. Big Data, Cloud, Mobility and Social networks. September 11, 2013. Conference

On September 11, 2013 TSI with partners, organizes a conference and exhibition „Business and Research: Together Towards Innovations with ICT new trends. Big Data, Cloud, Mobility and Social networks”

will take place in Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TSI) in Riga, 1 Lomonosova Street, conference hall 130 from 8:30 till 17:40.

„ICT skills are becoming truly generic. Any discussion on how education should improve, how healthcare should become more effective and industry more innovative involves always ICT skills as core competencies.

In the beginning of the nineties Robert Solow, Nobel Laureate in Economy, stated I see ICT everywhere increasing the costs but not increasing the productivity in any sector. Today the opposite is shown to be true. Digitisation, "Big Data" and CyberPhysical systems are key activities in reaching an increased productivity and better quality in any sector.

In spite of the obvious development and an increasing demand for ICT skills, there is a gap developing between vacancies and available ICT employees. 8oo thousand for Europe if we believe in OECD prognoses.

ICT leadership is needed more and more. CIOs, earlier dedicated to lead the internal ICT department, are becoming part of the company's  executive leadership.

In the future for ICT research, education and innovation will be complemented by the with ICT development.”

Professor Anders Flodström, Educational Director of EIT ICTLabs and a former vice-chairman of the EIT, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, Governing Board
