Regional Workshop of World Bank on Public-Private Partnerships in Roads and the Current Global Financial Crisis.
May 11, 2009

Program of Workshop

Program of Workshop

Registration Form

The workshop, to be held by the Latvian Transport and Telecommunication Institute, in cooperation with the Latvian Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the World Bank, has the main purpose to review key aspects of the tasks involved in launching a public-private partnership (PPP) program in roads and highways in a transition economy, such as Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

The workshop will take full advantage of the new Toolkit for PPP in Roads and Highways, recently developed by the Private Participation in Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF) and the World Bank. The Toolkit, which includes six main modules covering a wide range of issues, will be demonstrated at the workshop and will be made available to all the participants.

It is expected that the workshop will attract participants from both the public and the private sectors, including Government institutions, academia, graduate students, representatives from banks and private enterprises (e.g., consulting and contruction industry).

Venue

Riga is the capital of the Republic of Latvia. Thanks to its geographical location, Riga has wonderful trade, cultural and tourist facilities. Whilst able to offer all the benefits of a modern city, Riga has preserved its historical charm. It's especially famous for its medieval part - Old Riga.

Old Riga still preserves many mute witnesses of bygone times. Its old narrow streets, historical monuments, organ music at one of the oldest organ halls in Europe attract guests of our city. In 1998 Old Riga was included into the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage.

Accommodation

A wide range of hotels will be at the disposal of participants of the conference and accompanying persons (www.allhotels.lv, http://eng.meeting.lv/hotels/latvia_hotels.php).
